Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Chelsea studied BFA Film Production at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. As an aspiring writer-director, her first short film I Will Keep Your Light (2018) won Best Student Production at the Leo Awards 2019 and was an official selection of Whistler Film Festival and Montreal Film Festival.

With her strong interest in art, culture, and sustainability, I Will Keep Your Light cinematically explores a young pregnant woman's fear and hopes towards the polluted environment. In 2019, she finished her second short film Reverie, which tells the story about a sudden power outage that disrupts a mom and her two kids’ routine and eventually leads them to rediscover the moments that they’ve missed under the moonlight. Currently developing new scripts, she hopes to continue making films that convey the beauty of humanity and nature.

After finishing her degree, she starts working at Studio Stare as a creative producer and Betterdays Media as a development executive. Her previous work experience includes jury assistant and interpreter at Shanghai International Film Festival and research assistant at UBC Theatre & Film Department for a VR documentary project. In her third year at UBC, she became the co-chair of POV UBC Film Festival, a student-run event that attracted more than 600 audiences annually, where she received the Women in Film Award. In addition to her narrative films, her work ranges from environmental documentaries to branding videos.

Chelsea is based in Vancouver, Canada and Shanghai, China.
